Job Designation
Accounting Supervisor is responsible for maintaining general ledger, intercompany accounts, fixed assets and cash reconciliation, as well as other day-today accounting duties. This position supervises (3) positions: accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. The ideal candidate is driven, aspires to be the best, enjoys challenges and works well in fast paced environments. Ensures the timely completion and accuracy of accounts payable/receivable transactions, and the compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Job Core Responsibilities
+ Supervise accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll
+ Prepare and enter journal entries
+ Reconcile Intercompany accounts
+ Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts/investigate issues
+ Maintain fixed asset records and prepare PP&E roll-forward
+ Perform periodic physical inventory of fixed assets and reconcile differences
+ Track and report on capital expenditure requests and approvals
+ Bank Statement Reconciliation
+ Track and report on departmental spending
+ Assist in preparation of Management Reports
+ Sales tax maintenance and reporting / tax package reporting
+ Establishes, maintains and monitors department policies, procedures and performance standards to meet or exceed company financial objectives
+ Coordinates work flow and assignments to maximize department efficiency and effectiveness
+ Other responsibilities as assigned
+ The primary duties of this job require management of business or department, supervising 2 or more full time employees (or equivalent). Responsibilities include hiring and firing subordinate employees (or effectively recommending such decisions), interviewing, selecting, and training employees; setting and adjusting rates of pay and hours of work; directing employees work; maintaining production records for use in supervision; appraising employees productivity and efficiency for recommending promotions or other changes in status; handling employee complaints and grievances; disciplining employees; assigning work among employees; and providing for the safety and security of the employees. Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance
Job Specifications
Education: Post-Secondary degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
Years Experience: 5-7 years or more of relevant experience
+ Experience in managing accounts payable/receivable and knowledge and understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
+ Manufacturing experience is preferred.
+ SAP experience is a plus
+ Ability to plan and direct accounting efforts to meet team targets
+ Strong attention to detail, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize with changing situations
+ Capable of problem solving using analytical skills to interpret complex data/information
+ Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and database management tools
