Consider working for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED), the U.S. Navys Civilian health care organization, at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton. This position is located in the Industrial Hygiene Program Office (IHPO) and serves as a senior (full performance level) Industrial Hygienist for Barstow, CA. The selectee may serve as a team leader for those activities requiring expertise in highly complex and sensitive surveys in high hazard workplaces. Perform duties encompassing all phases of the industrial hygiene program as specified by Department of Defense (DOD), Navy, and BUMED directives as well as the U.S. Code of Federal regulations.

The successful selectee will perform the following duties:
:Perform industrial hygiene inspections, surveys and evaluations individually or part of a team.
:Assess work practices to identify the population at risk and to detect violations of published health standards.
:Evaluate and reviews industrial hygiene related aspects of research.
:Assess the need for quantitative determination of problems in ventilation; air contamination; noise and other physical stressors.
:Investigate health problems that arise among workers; conducts indoor environmental quality surveys or assessments of individuals.
Travel Required:
Occasional travel : Travel is dependent upon position description and availability of funding.
:Must be a US Citizen.
:Males must be registered or exempt from Selective Service.
:Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
:Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
:May be required to successfully complete a probationary/trial period.

Must receive and maintain appropriate vaccination(s) and immunizations.
Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
Must be able to obtain an interim and/or final (e.g.,
confidential/secret/top secret, etc.) security clearance prior to entrance on duty AND must be able to maintain the required level of clearance while employed in the subject position. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Selectee will be required to successfully complete a pre:appointment physical examination.
Work requires frequent bending, stooping, walking, standing, working in cramped positions, and climbing.
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
