This position independently plans and performs corrective and preventive maintenance on complex electronic intrusion detection systems often using only limited technical documentation.
Serves as an expert in intrusion detection systems that include video (IR and day), access control (gates, turnstiles, card readers and keypads), radar perimeter security (FLIR), IR and BMS sensors, giant voice and mass notification equipment and a variety of communication protocols and networking.
Will be called on to resolve design and operational issues and make decisions in situations where standard engineering methods, procedures, and techniques may not be applicable.
Typical duties include:
+ Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on intrusion detection systems of various types and manufacturers
+ Recommend solutions to design problems.
+ Performing system tests and analyzing the results, modifying equipment or installations to improve performance.
+ Assisting project engineers when directed in developing system, equipment, or installation designs and performing IDS Final Test and Acceptance.
+ Providing reports, updating drawings and maintaining inventories of installed equipment, spare parts and test equipment.
+ Performing repairs to fiber optic and copper cabling to include fusion splicing, and termination.
+ Determining test requirements, test equipment and procedures and conducting tests of installed system/equipment using various types of instrumentation.
+ May supervise or train and be assisted by lower level technicians.
+ Associates degree in electronics technology or a two-year civilian technical electronics curriculum or a four-year trade apprenticeship training program in electronics or graduate of a military Class \"A\" electronics school.
+ Must have as a minimum, eight years hands-on experience in the field of electronics systems and equipment, installation, integration, and test and checkout.This experience must include operational, maintenance and team lead work assignments.
+ Previous Intrusion Detection System experience can be substituted at the rate of one years experience for each year of education required.
+ Secret clearance
Working knowledge of the following systems, test equipment, protocols and software is required:
AMAG, DMP alarm monitor and reporting systems; FLIR radars, fiber optic cable and associated communication devices; AC and DC power supplies; CCTV cameras, DVRs, and video switchers; computers (modems, video cards, device drivers, com ports, etc); operating systems MS Server, Windows; networking protocols TCP/IP, network hubs, switchers, server connectivity; computer file backups; microwave transmitter/receivers and spread spectrum communication equipment; data and video multiplexers, standard computer communication protocols (RS-232, RS-484, RS-422, etc.); digital and analog multimeters; hand-held fiber attenuation test meters; OTDRs; TDRs; various other types of test equipment (signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, etc.); fusion splicers, and underground cable locators.
